Making Fields Mandatory with user personalization in D365 FO

Ensuring data accuracy and completeness is crucial in any organization.

In Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, there are times when a customer requires certain fields to be mandatory in a form to improve their internal control.

However, it might not be mandatory by default. In such cases, you can make a field mandatory without any coding by following the steps below.

Step 1: Navigate to the Form and Choose the Field to Make Mandatory

In this example, we will make the Tax Exempt Number field mandatory on the Customer form.

To get started, navigate to the Accounts Receivable module, then select Customers, followed by All Customers.

Step 2: Personalize the Field

Once you have located the field that you want to make mandatory, right-click on it, and select Personalize Field.

You will then see the Personalization dialog box. From there, select the Required checkbox option.

Step 3: Test the Field

Now that you have made the field mandatory, test it by trying to save the form without entering data into the field.

You should receive an error message indicating that the field is required.

Conclusion

In conclusion, making a field mandatory in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations is an easy process that can be completed without any coding.

By following the steps outlined in this blog post, you can fulfill your customer's requirements for data accuracy and completeness.
