Alternate Email Address for Workflow Notifications for Users in D365 FO

Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain is a powerful business management tool used by organizations of all sizes to streamline their operations.

Microsoft has recently introduced a new feature that allows you to set up a dedicated email ID for your users for workflow-related notifications.

This feature can be found in the Feature Management area of D365 Finance and Supply Chain.

Here are some key points to help you understand this feature and its benefits:

Enabling the feature: Enabling a Feature to Add a New Field for Alternate Email on User Options Page in D365 Workflow Tab.

This is where you can specify the email ID for the user that you want to receive all workflow-related notifications.

Workflow notifications: All workflow-related notifications will be sent to the email ID specified in the "Alternate email" field.

This means that users will no longer have to check multiple email IDs to stay updated on their workflows.

Sender email: If the "Alternate email" field is left blank, workflow emails will be sent to the email ID set up under the sender email field.

This can be useful in situations where you want to send emails from a specific email alias, such as an Accounts Payable email alias.

Accounts Payable example:

Suppose you have configured D365 Finance to send payment advice notifications to vendors for ACH payments, and the members of the Accounts Payable team wish to have these notifications sent from the Accounts Payable email alias, rather than their individual email addresses.

In this scenario, you can set the "Sender email" to be the Accounts Payable email alias and set up their user email ID under the "Alternate email" field.

Benefits of the feature:

Simplified workflow management: Users can easily manage their workflows by receiving all notifications in one email ID.

Increased efficiency:

Users can save time by not having to check multiple email IDs for their workflow notifications.

In conclusion, the new email ID feature in D365 Finance and Supply Chain is a valuable tool for businesses looking to streamline their workflow management and improve collaboration.

By enabling this feature, users can receive all their workflow-related notifications in one place, making it easier to manage and stay on top of their workflows.
