Enhancing Documentation Process with Task Recorder Screenshots in D365 FO

Use This Functionality to Enhance Your Documentation Process in D365 Finance and Operation.

Microsoft D365 for Finance and Operations cloud has made significant improvements compared to its predecessor, Ax 2012.

One of the key enhancements is the task recorder, which allows users to easily record and document their workflow processes.

However, what many users may not know is that the task recorder also has a powerful feature that enables them to capture screenshots when exporting to Word.

In this blog post, we will explore this functionality and show you how to use it to enhance your documentation process.

Capturing Screenshots with the Task Recorder

As mentioned earlier, the task recorder has a built-in feature that allows users to capture screenshots when exporting to Word.

This feature can be incredibly helpful when documenting complex processes or workflows that require visual aids to be understood.

To start using this feature, you need to get the D365 for Finance and Operations Task Recorder extension from the new Edge browser or Chrome and activate it.

Once you have installed the extension, you can create a new task recorder.

Click on the setting and select Task recorder.

With this option selected, you can start recording your process as usual.

When you stop recording and export your recording to Word, the captured screenshots will be included.

Improving the Clarity and Detail of Your Documentation

The captured screenshots greatly improve the clarity and detail of your documentation.

Instead of relying solely on text, users can see the process being executed step-by-step in real-time.

This not only makes the documentation process more efficient but also makes it easier for other users to understand the process being documented.

This feature is especially useful for users who are new to a particular process or for those who are not familiar with a particular software application.

Reducing the Size of Your Word Document

While capturing screenshots can greatly enhance your documentation process, it's worth noting that the resulting Word document may be quite large due to the high quality of the screenshots.

This can make it difficult to share or store the document, especially if you have limited storage space.

To reduce the size of the document, you can compress all the pictures in one shot from Word. This will not only reduce the size of the document but also ensure that the screenshots remain clear and readable.

Conclusion

Capturing screenshots with the task recorder is a powerful feature that can greatly enhance your documentation process.

It not only improves the clarity and detail of your documentation but also makes it easier for other users to understand the process being documented.

While the resulting Word document may be quite large, you can compress all the pictures in one shot from Word to reduce the size of the document.

We hope this post has been helpful in showing you how to use this feature to create more professional documents.

  1. Descargue el complemento que mencionas y al iniciar la grabación muestra la opción capturar pantalla, pero de forma momentanea, no permanece en la pantalla para poder activar el check, se oculta la opción.
